What is Microblading?
Microblading is a form of Semi Permanent Makeup which is implemented using a hand held tool comprised of between 6-14 micro needles in the shape of a blade hence the name Microblade.
The process is carried out using the hand held tool to insert pigment into the upper layers of skin. The pigment is deposited into the epidermis. As the color is impacted closer to the surface, the hair strokes appear crisp and very fine. There is no spilling under the skin and the effects last up to 18 months, after which the pigment fades leaving the skin. This method is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of his or her eyebrows. The results are natural looking, hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of hair present. Microblading is a gentler alternative to the Standard Permanent Makeup, due to the fact that is does not penetrate into the dermis skin layer.
What should I expect?
There is minimal discomfort associated with the procedure. A topical anesthetic is used to numb the area to make you comfortable during the procedure. The procedure takes roughly about two hours, sometimes more sometimes less. Please allow a solid two and a half hour window for your appointment. We likely won’t need that much time, but this isn’t something we want to rush.
Microblading is a two step treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and then a touch up six weeks after. After we take your before photo, we shape your eyebrows and decide on the color. Shortly after that, a topical anesthetic will be administered to ensure comfort. Once you’re numb, the pigment is deposited.
During healing, it's normal to experience some pigment loss; this is why we have the touch up in place. The process is considered to be complete 6 weeks after the first touch up. The results can last anywhere from 11 to 18 months, depending on different factors affecting the procedure. However, a touch up once a year is recommended to retain the shape and saturation of pigment. The average cost for the procedure in the United States market varies from $400 to $1200.
At Glow Beauty Charlotte, Microblading is $495 which includes your 5 week touch up appointment.
A color boost appointment is $300 and your 18 month touch up is $400. If brows have completely faded, $495 is required.
How should I prepare for my session?
There is no prep required. Leaving your eyebrows alone for a week (no tweezing, waxing or otherwise removing the hair) is preferred. Please refrain from injectables in the treatment area, and do not take any aspirin 2 weeks prior to the procedure.
How to care for my new brows and how long does it take to heal?
Healing time varies from individual to individual. Usually, it takes about a week to ten days for the epithelial crust to form and slough off. Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. Then, the pigment takes some time to settle into the skin. A good month should pass before we consider the process complete. Please follow these instructions for up to 14 days after the procedure to improve and prolong the results of Everlasting Brows.
